Resident Artists
We like to say that abrasiveMedia is an artist’s organization; in the process of facilitating the artists, we enable their art as well, thus contributing to the arts community as a whole. Our methodology utilizes programs and tools that benefit the health of the artists themselves, in combination with brand theories and business development practices to marry our artists’ passionate ideas and visions with a solid personal foundation and business backbone.
Currently, our artists in residence are:
- David Landry, an illustrator who is beginning the World’s Largest Graphic Novel, a three-year project which will encompass hundreds of paintings when completed, and will be published in a book as well
- Rebekah Hampton, who is in the process of founding FALL, an aerial, modern dance , and contemporary ballet company in Nashville. This company will grow over the next few years to be a full-time professional company.
- Robert Cortner, who is developing a group of artists which will be doing several projects together as a community in partnership with abrasiveMedia UPDATE: Robert is heading up The Starving Artist Venture, and is looking for volunteers. Contact us at info at abrasivemedia dot org for more information!
Our current residents are helping us finalize and codify our program. Beginning in 2012, we will be accepting applications for the program. Details such as how many artists we will be working with and the time frame for the program will be forthcoming in the next few months.
